Addis Ababa - Lions and
tigers have killed one person and 51 livestock in western Ethiopia this
week, local officials said on Friday.
Jihad Aba Bulgu, chairperson of the Kersa district council, told Walta Information Centre, a local press agency, that a 20-year-old man was devoured by lions while working in a field. Tigers have been attracted to lowland areas of Gera district and killed 51 sheep and goats and some cattle, a local councillor was quoted as saying. Some 14 people and more than 1 000 livestock are believed to have been devoured by wild animals this year in Kersa district alone. - Sapa-AFP |
