      New Neighbor's Dog Attacks Boy

6-Year-Old's Injuries Are Not Life Threatening

October 12, 2000

OKLAHOMA CITY, Updated 11:15 p.m. CDT -- A 6-year-old child was bitten by a dog Thurday evening in Oklahoma City.

The young boy, Reno Arrowood, was visiting his grandmother at NW 96th and Garnet, Eyewitness News 5's Brooke Osburn reported. He went to a neighbors house, opened a gate to the back yard and was then attacked.

Arrowood's grandfather said that the dog was a pit bull.

The dog (pictured, right) then ran down the street.

The boy suffered an injury on the back of his head near his ear, but the injuries were not thought to be life threatening. He was taken to the hospital and received stitches.

Animal-control officers came to the area to look for the dog.

The owners of the pit bull had moved into their house earlier Thursday.
