Teenager escapes shark attackTuesday 18th July 2000 A teenage South African surfer is counting his good luck after escaping an attack by a Great White shark. Shannon Ainslie, 15, was surfing near a reef off the coast of East London, South Africa, when he was attacked by the Great White. It took a chunk out of the teenager's right hand, biting a finger down to the bone. Ainslie paddled to shore, but didn't realise he had been bitten until he reached the beach and saw blood. He was taken to hospital and released after treatment. Copyright 2001 Ananova Ltd BACK to Animal Attack Files Index Tell a Friend about the Animal Attack Files |
