FC chief's wife critical after
sting
Thursday, September 14, 2000 The wife of Charlton FC's chairman is critically ill today after being stung by a wasp. Jane Murray had an allergic reaction when the wasp attacked as she ate breakfast in her garden with husband Richard. She was taken to hospital from their home in south London. Club spokesman Mick Collins said: "We can confirm that Mrs Murray is in a critical condition. It's a very, very difficult time for Richard at the moment and the priority is of course Jane's health." Players and staff were extremely concerned about Mrs Murray, who is popular at The Valley. Fans have sent flowers and messages since the news went out on the club's website. The couple have been married for 27 years. Mr Murray, 50, is at his wife's bedside. He owns Avesco - with a stake in Who Wants To Be a Millionaire? - and has sunk more than £5million into the club. © Associated Newspapers Ltd. |
