Police in Florida suspect an alligator killed a toddler found dead in a lake.

Alexandria Murphy was reported missing after she wandered from her family's back yard in Winter Haven.

A policeman found the two-year-old's body less than an hour later near the Lake Cannon shore.

Alexandria had bites on her arms and right thigh and a broken arm.

Florida's Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Gary Morse said her injuries were consistent with an alligator attack.

However, the girl could have drowned and then been bitten, authorities said.

A commission trapper killed the six-and-a-half-feet-long alligator suspected.
