DOCTORS OPERATE ON WOMAN ATTACKED BY TWO PIT BULLS

Doctors operated for 16 hours on the woman attacked by two pit bulls Wednesday evening in Villafranca Padovana, near Padua. The woman, 43, was walking with a friend when she was attacked by the two dogs. The pit bulls were used as watchdogs for a local butchery. A number of operating teams worked on the surgery, and following the operation the woman was transferred to the intensive therapy unit. Surgeons are withholding prognosis at the moment. Traffic police in Villafranca Padovana apparently had warned the pit bulls' owner to keep the dogs locked up in a pen, because of complaints that the dogs had roamed free.
